The Jonas Youth Initiative
How to Apply
The Jonas Youth Initiative grants roughly $250,000 annually, primarily to small, local nonprofits or start-up initiatives in larger nonprofits. We do not put out a formal RFP and are connected with most potential grantees through referrals and word of mouth. We have no formal deadlines and applications are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year. Grants are made on a year-by-year basis with the potential of renewal for up to three years. While some grants are allocated for program support, most are granted for specific projects and/or staffing. Our grantees meet annually for professional development opportunities and a chance to network and share their work.
Site visits and annual reports are required for all grantees. Upon review of these materials by the Initiative’s advisory board, grantees will be notified if they should reapply for another year of funding. Please note that the Jonas Youth Initiative is currently encouraging all grantees to use Jonas monies to procure matching funds. Proposals that demonstrate strategic matches are looked upon most favorably.
If you feel that your organization and/or project may be a good fit for the Jonas Youth Initiative, please email a letter of inquiry to the Initiative’s Director, Lendri Purcell. Lendri will be in touch with you to determine if a full application is requested. In the interest of saving your organization’s time, please do not apply for initial or continued funding without first being invited to do so.
We thank you for your interest in the Jonas Youth Initiative and for your work to improve the lives of youth and families.
