Lana Bernat is a Certified Nurse Midwife and a current Doctorate of Nursing Practice student with Frontier Nursing University. Lana graduated from North Dakota State University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in nursing and was subsequently commissioned as a U.S. Army Nurse Corps officer, serving in the field of women’s health. She earned a Master of Science in Leadership in Healthcare Systems from Regis University in 2005 and continued to serve in a variety of leadership roles in nurse management, case management, and quality management. Most recently, Lana served as the Chief for a Quality Management department in a large ambulatory care organization in New York. She earned a Master of Science in Nurse-Midwifery in 2015 and will be transitioning to Hawaii where she will continue her work in healthcare quality and nurse-midwifery. Her passion for quality and education is evident through her decision to accept a position as chapter chair for the Frontier Institute for Healthcare Improvement Open School Chapter. She will be hosting the first all-University lecture on High Reliability in Healthcare in the fall. Lana is a current member of the American College of Nurse-Midwives; Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses; and Sigma Theta Tau International.
