Jonas V Veterans Healthcare Scholar

Lacey Wright Heinsberg, BSN, BS, RN

University of Pittsburgh
PhD Student

Lacey Wright is currently a Predoctoral Scholar at the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing. After receiving a Civil Engineering degree from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, Lacey worked for the Public Health Service performing water quality research in Oklahoma. In this position, Lacey found a passion for research and improving the lives of community members, prompting her to pursue a career in healthcare. After receiving her Nursing degree from Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes Jewish College, Lacey worked as a neurocritical care nurse before beginning her doctoral studies at the University of Pittsburgh. Lacey’s research interests include the role of free iron and associated homeostatic mechanisms within the central nervous system. By studying the relationship between genomic, epigenomic, and proteomic factors of iron homeostasis and patient outcome variability post-subarachnoid hemorrhage, Lacey hopes to contribute to the development of early therapeutic interventions post-stroke and ultimately improve patient outcomes.
