Ms. Owens received a BSN from Hope College in Holland, MI and MSN from Northern Michigan University, Marquette, MI and and FNP from Grand Valley State University in Allendale, MI. She is currently a doctoral candidate at Indiana University in Indianapolis, IN. Ms. Owens has always been interested in lifeling learning for nurses, and her dissertation research is a qualitative study looking at associate degree nurses from rural area in the Midwest, to discover the meaning of their nursing education and what may facilitate their return to school for a bachelor's degree. She is currently an assistant professor at Ferris State University, Big Rapids, MI and was previously a nursing instructor at Kirkland Community College, Roscommon, MI.
