Sarah Mossburg is currently pursuing her PhD in nursing at Johns Hopkins University, where she was recognized for academic excellence as a Sigma Theta Tau inductee. Her research interests include methods for promoting patient safety and preventing errors in healthcare. Ms. Mossburg’s interest in patient safety first surfaced while she was pursing her Masters in Health Systems Administration at Georgetown University in 2003, where she was inducted into the Upsilon Phi Delta Honors Society for Healthcare Administration. She completed her Bachelors in Nursing at the University of Pennsylvania in 1998. She has worked in a variety of clinical, research, leadership and teaching positions over the course of her nursing career. Her clinical background is primarily in intensive care and interventional radiology. She has worked as a research nurse and a research coordinator in the department of infectious diseases at Georgetown. She has served in various leadership roles including Clinical Practice Specialist, Nurse Manager and Director of Professional Practice. She has also taught in the hospital as an Educator and as a Clinical Instructor for several schools of nursing. She has served as a Reviewer for the ANCC Pathway to Excellence program since 2008. Ms. Mossburg was recognized as a Nursing Spectrum Finalist in the Excellence in Mentoring category.
