Mimi Niles, CNM, MSN, MPH is currently a doctoral candidate at New York University. Briefly, her research explores the structural and intersectional challenges faced by public health midwives working in urban poor settings that care for vulnerable women. She obtained her Master's in Midwifery at Frontier Nursing University and has since been practicing full scope midwifery at a public hospital in New York City. While working in vulnerable communities, she developed a passion for public health and social justice. Which lead her to pursue her MPH from the Global Institute of Public Health at NYU. She has worked with and for midwives in Mexico, Haiti & most recently in rural Tanzania where she developed a midwifery mentoring program. She is a child of immigrant parents and a proud daughter of a public health midwife who practiced for decades in urban and rural India.
