Michael Valenti, RN, MS

Mr. Valenti graduated from Long Island College Hospital School of Nursing with an AAS in nursing. He subsequently received his BS in nursing at St. Francis College and a Master’s in Nursing Education at New York University College of Nursing (NYUCN). Prior to enrolling in the NYU PhD program he practiced nursing in pediatric intensive care, acute and community adult mental health, and as clinic director for the Office of Mental Health. Over the past three years he taught clinical classes at NYUCN and lectures at St. Francis College. Mr. Valenti’s research interests include undergraduate nursing education, cultural competency, and high fidelity human patient simulation as a teaching strategy to increase patient safety and quality improvement. He is currently working with faculty at NYUCN on psychometric testing of a cultural awareness tool for undergraduate nursing students. Mr. Valenti’s dissertation will focus on factors that influence or enhance the cultural competence of undergraduate nursing students.
