Michael Fachko, BSN, MSN

Michael Fachko has over twenty years of service to the United States Air Force. Entering nursing after 15 years as a helicopter pilot, Mr. Fachko is a certified medical-surgical nurse and Officer-in-Charge Flight Nurse. He received both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Nursing from State University of New York Buffalo while working full-time and serving in the Air Force Reserve. Most recently, he served as a Senior Aeromedical Evacuation nurse transporting wounded soldiers from combat areas to the United States. He is a member of the Academy of Medical Surgical Nursing and Sigma Theta Tau.
Mr. Fachko plans to pursue a career in both research and academia upon completion of the doctoral degree. His decision to pursue a PhD in nursing comes from his own inquisitive nature and interest in nursing knowledge as well as a desire to promote research that enhances the profession. During his graduate program, Mr. Fachko conducted a study on body temperature and its relationship to stroke patients. As a veteran, he is committed to a teaching and research career improving rehab nursing care for stroke patients. Mr. Fachko is committed to staying in the metropolitan New York area upon completion of his PhD degree. He has rich clinical training, life experience, demonstrated leadership and an ability to serve as a role model for other male nurses.
