Margarett Alexandre, BSN, MSN
The Graduate Center, City University of New York (CUNY)
Ms. Alexandre completed both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree at Adelphi University and also obtained a post-master’s certificate in Gerontological Nursing. She is currently an Assistant Professor at Suffolk County Community College and has consistently been recognized as an outstanding member of her community. Over the years, Ms Alexandre has provided clinical education for nursing students as a preceptor for graduate nursing students at St. Joseph’s College, Long Island University and Molloy College and she has also assumed a professional leadership role as an administrator at Glen Cove Hospital. Ms. Alexandre has strong personal ties to Haiti, as she has founded a program there designed to teach Haitian youth life skills that will strengthen not only their immediate communities, but also the nation as a whole. Because she has family residing in Haiti and has worked to cultivate a relationship with citizens of that nation, Ms. Alexandre’s dissertation will focus on the psychological and physical effects of the earthquake on selected samples of the Haitian people.
