Margaret Reilly, MS, APRN

The Graduate Center, City University of New York (CUNY)

Ms. Reilly received her undergraduate degree from Long Island University, in Brooklyn and worked in a community hospital in the areas of medical/surgical nursing, pediatrics, post-partum care and the emergency department. While serving in the emergency department for 10 years, she became an instructor for the Nursing Education department and taught Basic Cardiac Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support. This experience inspired Ms. Reilly to return to school for her first Master’s degree in community health nursing from Hunter College. She then earned a second Master’s degree as a Nurse Practitioner in Adult Health and also became certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.

As a faculty member at Queensborough College, Ms. Reilly has held several leadership positions and she was also selected as a Health Information Technology Scholar, which is a federally-funded HRSA program to identify nurse leaders to disseminate education for faculty on the integration of health informatics technology into the nursing education curriculum. Ms. Reilly is currently in the fourth year of the program and her area of research is focused on nursing workforce development. Her dissertation will examine the effects of social support on motivation to return to school for a baccalaureate degree among associate degree nurse graduates.
