My Current Program and Research Interests: Currently a Nursing PhD student at Indiana University, Indianapolis, Indiana. My minor is in Communication through the College of Liberal Arts. My area of focus is Effective Communication in Interprofessional Practice. My initial research is entitled “Descriptions of Communication in Interprofessional Practice between Physicians and Nurses in an Operating Room Setting”. Education Preparation: Obtained MSN at Northern Kentucky University (Nursing Administration & Education focus). Obtained BSN at Ball State University. (Psychiatric Nursing in Dundee, Scotland)   Relevant Work Experience/Leadership Roles: Director of Network Education—11 years (Initially for one hospital in Network of 7, then became independent stand-alone hospital, which then became Network with over 140 physician offices and 5 outpatient centers.) Managed & Directed variety of responsibilities and initiatives—Corporate Orientation, Nursing Orientation, Nursing CE, Preceptor & Charge Nurse Workshops, EPIC (EMR) training, Simulation Lab, Nursing & Clinical Affiliations, Learning Management System, CPR—BLS & ACLS, RN to BSN & BSN to ACNP programs. Diabetes Center Manager—6 years (grew from 0 endocrinologists to 5 endocrinologists) Operating Room Nurse—24 years (Held a variety of roles—assistant manager, team leader, charge, educator, scrubbed and circulated in all types of cases—Open Heart, Eye, Ent, Neuro, General, Gyn, OB, Ortho, Plastics) Same Day Surgery/Recovery Room—2 years—(cross-covered) Med/Surg—Floor/Patient Unit—3 years (Unit Nurse/Charge Nurse) Nursing Instructor—5 years Home Health Nursing Care—5 years (Geriatric) Preceptor for numerous nursing students at all levels.
