Justine Sefcik, MS, RN

Ms. Sefcik’s nursing career began after completing a Practical Nursing program during her junior and senior years at Curtis High School, Staten Island, NY. She began working in a long term care facility as a LPN and pursued her Bachelor Degree in Art concurrently. After the completion of her BA in 2001, Ms. Sefcik found her passion working with the geriatric population. She continued her education in nursing and obtained an Associate Degree from the State University of New York College at Delhi. She then graduated from an accelerated BS/MS program in 2007 with a Master Degree in Nursing Administration. She has held numerous positions in a long-term care facility for the past 12 years. Her most recent position is as Assistant Director of Nursing/Education Coordinator. Ms. Sefcik’s research interest is in disruptive behaviors of cognitively impaired residents of long-term care facilities and staff interactions with these residents. At the completion of the doctoral program, she plans to pursue a career in both research and academia.
