Heather Gibson, BSN, MA

Heather earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 1995 from the Univerrsity at Buffalo, followed by her Master of Arts degree in Nursing in 2003 from New York University. She has been teaching as an Assistant Professor at Medgar Evers College in the Department of Nursing fom 2004 until present. She also served as the Chair of the Department of Nursing AAS/PN at Medgar Evers College from 2006-2010. Previously, Heather worked at New York Methodist Hospital, where she took on a number of roles including Project Assistant, Clinical Analyst, Bloodless Medicine and Surgery Coordinator, and Charge Nurse. Heather is currently pursuing her doctorate at the CUNY Graduate Center, where she is working on her dissertation, "Parental Perceptions of Childhood Obesity in Afro-Caribbeans". Additionally, she is involved at the Graduate Center in a research group that studies childhood obesity. She recently travelled with this group to Cape Town, South Africa and London, England to further their studies. Heather is also interested in Nursing Informatics and Nursing Education.
