Gwen McGhan, RN, BN, MN

Ms. McGhan received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alberta and her Bachelor of Nursing (with Distinction) and Master of Nursing in Evidence-Based Nursing Practice from the University of Manitoba. She previously worked as a program manager for an acute Cardio-Vascular-Thoracic ward and step-down unit in a large tertiary care hospital in Winnipeg, Canada. Before taking on the role of program manager, Ms. McGhan’s nursing practice included working in the specialty areas of nephrology, post-anesthetic care and oncology. She is also a faculty member at The Pennsylvania State University and will begin her doctoral studies this fall at the School of Nursing. Ms. McGhan is currently the Project Administrator for the Pennsylvania State University Hartford Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence. In collaboration with her Penn State colleagues, she is working on a number of health care workforce well-being studies and is co-author on conference presentations and publications including the Best Paper Proceedings of the 2010 Academy of Management Meeting, Montreal, Canada. Ms. McGhan’s doctoral research will focus on improving the quality of life at the end of life for older adults.
