Guy Weissinger II, MPhil, RN

University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing
PhD Student

Guy Weissinger, M.Phil., RN is a predoctoral student at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. His research interest focuses on the interplay between physical health and mental health, especially for people with serious mental illness, and the interaction between social context and psychopathology. Before entering the BSN/PhD program at the University of Pennsylvania through the Hillman Scholars program, Guy was a masters-level therapist who worked in inpatient and outpatient settings, primarily with individuals with chronic illness. His interest in health and nursing stems from these experiences and the powerful effect he saw that nurses could have on patient's experiences and outcomes. At the University of Pennsylvania, Guy works primarily with Dr. Bridgette Brawner, including as a study nurse for her CDC funded trial of an intervention to reduce STI/HIV risk in Black adolescents in mental health treatment. Guy is currently the Editor-Elect of the Journal of Doctoral Nursing Student Scholarship and will transition to the role of Editor next year.
