Cherry Arimas-Macalino is a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) student of the Southern California CSU DNP Consortium (California State University, Fullerton, Los Angeles and Long Beach). She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Biola University. She acquired her Master of Science in Nursing and her school nurse credential from CSU, Fullerton. She has extensive experience in community health, which included overseeing multiple programs as an Assistant Director of Public Health Nursing. Her passion is preventive care and addressing the needs of vulnerable populations. Her clinical background includes working with the Athabascan Indians, patients with HIV/AIDS, foster care children, drug-endangered children, school-aged students, and on a medical surgical unit. She currently serves as the Vice President and Program Committee Chair of Upsilon Beta Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International. She is a panel member of a Student Attendance Review Board. She is also a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society. Her research focus will be to identify the correlation between chronic absenteeism in school-aged children, and educational and health outcomes.
