Jonas V Nurse Leader Scholar

Brandon Johnson, MSN, RN, CHSE

Indiana University-Purdue University
PhD Student

Brandon Kyle Johnson received his BSN from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and his MSN from Lubbock Christian University. It was during his MSN program that he found his passion for pairing simulation best practices with high acuity client care. Brandon is currently in the PhD in Nursing Science program at Indiana University. Considering that the use of observation as a form of learning is commonly used in nursing education, his research intends to quantify the learning that occurs when students observe rather than perform in a specific nursing role during simulations. Specifically, he is concerned if observing care for clients with hyperlipidemia, hypertension, and hyperglycemia produces the same outcome as those who perform care. He is currently an instructor and serves in leadership as the clinical and simulation director for the Traditional Undergraduate Program at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Lubbock, Texas.
