Anne P. Poppe, MN, BSN, BA, RN
University of Washington
Ms. Poppe was inspired at an early age to become a nurse when she served as companion and aide to her elderly grandmother. Later, growing up in Canada, this interest was reinforced through working as a nurse's aide. Ms. Poppe went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Nursing concurrently with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Washington (UW). After working in oncology, telemetry, and thoracic intensive care, she developed an interest in nursing research that would improve health care delivery for older adults. While completing her Master of Nursing with a focus in gerontology at the University of Washington, she began doctoral work to further her research and teaching skills. Ms. Poppe works as Research Nurse Supervisor/Project Director for an NIH funded randomized clinical trial at the UW School of Nursing. She is the current President of King County Nurses Association, a constituent district of Washington State Nurses Association. In addition, she serves as the Governance Committee Chair for Psi-at-Large Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Her dissertation project explores the use of telehealth technology for extending nursing care oversight and delivery of educational resources for adult family home caregivers who care for vulnerable adults.
