In Memoriam
It is with heavy hearts that we inform you of the death of one of our scholars, Anna Katherine “Katie” Keiper. She died on July 20th, 2011 from breast cancer. Katie was a student at the University of Washington and became part of the Jonas Scholars program last summer through the National League for Nursing. Needless to say, she will be missed by us all. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family.
Katie received a BSN from Southern Oregon State College and a Master in health care administration from the University of Washington. She was as assistant nurse manager of the resource team at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, and prior to that she worked at the General Clinical Research Center at the University of Washington Medical Center. She received a certificate in clinical trials from the University and her doctoral work focused on evaluating PhD students in nursing’s understanding of responsible conduct of research by utilizing the principles of the Belmont Report and the nine core concepts of responsible conduct of research identified by the NIH.
