Uchechi Amajuoyi

Uchechi AmajuoyiUchechi Amajuoyi was born in Lagos, Nigeria, where she resided with her family until 2001, when they relocated to the United States as permanent residents. In 2006, she became a naturalized citizen of the United States.

Ms. Amajuoyi has five years of nursing experience working in an acute care setting. In April 2010, she began working at Maple Grove hospital in Minneapolis MN, in the Medical – Surgical and Intensive Care Unit. She participates in staff education and clinical practice. Prior to working at Maple Grove hospital, she worked for four years in the trauma specialty unit at North Memorial hospital, a Level 1 Trauma Center in MN. Her primary responsibilities included providing pre- and post-surgical care to patients with brain, spinal cord, and orthopedic injuries. She also participated in training other employees in the use of Epic software for electronic documentation. Ms. Amajuoyi holds membership in several professional nursing associations one of which is the Minnesota nurse association. Ms. Uchechi Amajuoyi received a B.S. in Nursing, magna cum laude, in 2006 from Minnesota State University, Mankato, where she served as President of the African Student Association for two years and was a member of the honors society. 

Ms. Amajuoyi is a full-time DNP student at George Washington University. Her research will focus on the relationship between nursing leaders and staff nurses and the effect it has on nursing staff morale. Prior to pursuing a DNP degree, she participated in chemistry research projects, which helped broaden her knowledge about medical nurse. She volunteers as a parish nurse, providing free blood sugar checks, blood pressure checks and education to members of the church.
