Ninara Ibragimova - Jonas III Scholar (2012-2014)Ninara Ibragimova, DNP was born in Azerbaijan and received her master’s degree in biology and biochemistry from Azerbaijan State University. After graduation, she was hired to work in the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, where she started a research and elaboration of the screening method for determination of activity of human enzyme cholinesterase (CHE). She has several publications about CHE in domestic and foreign scientific journals. This research was financially supported by central Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology in Moscow. During “perestroika,” bonds between Azerbaijan and Moscow were disrupted and CHE project was closed. Dr. Ibragimova then earned her BSN from Pace University Lienhard School of Nursing and RN license and was promoted to a Staff Nurse position in Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU). After seven years in the ICU she realized that she had much more to offer to her patients, hospital, and community. This served as a major inspiration to pursue a Doctorate Degree in Nursing. Dr. Ibragimova feels passionate about quality improvement, patient safety, and ongoing research that helps innovate and shape the modern health care.
