Michael Fachko, PhD, MSN, BSN

Jonas Scholar Alumni FachkoMichael Fachko has over twenty years of service to the United States Air Force. Entering nursing after 15 years as a helicopter pilot, Dr. Fachko is a certified medical-surgical nurse and Officer-in-Charge Flight Nurse. He received both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Nursing from State University of New York Buffalo while working full-time and serving in the Air Force Reserve. Most recently, he served as a Senior Aeromedical Evacuation nurse transporting wounded soldiers from combat areas to the United States. He is a member of the Academy of Medical Surgical Nursing and Sigma Theta Tau.

Dr. Fachko received his PhD from the University of Pennsylvania.  During his graduate program, Dr. Fachko conducted a study on body temperature and its relationship to stroke patients. As a veteran, he is committed to a teaching and research career improving rehab nursing care for stroke patients. Dr. Fachko completed a T32 grant fellowship position at The Center for Sleep and Circadian Neurobiology. He is currently a Clinical Medical Surgical Expert at the Buffalo VA and serves as an Adjunct Faculty at SUNY Buffalo.
