Linda A. Fernandes, RN, MSN

Linda A. FernandezLinda Fernandes earned a BSN from the University of Pittsburgh in 1996. She completed the clinical nurse specialist program with a focus in forensic nursing, earning an MSN degree from Johns Hopkins University in 2005. Her professional experience includes roles as a forensic nurse for the Public Defender’s Office in Delaware from 2005 through 2010, and since 2009 to the present, instructor in the Associate Degree in Nursing Program at Delaware Technical and Community College (Del Tech) in Dover, Delaware.

Ms. Fernandes presented annually at the International Association of Forensic Nurses’ conference from 2005 to 2009. She has presented locally, regionally, and nationally on topics related to forensic nursing and legal nurse consulting. Her publications include two chapters, one on the role of a legal nurse consultant in criminal cases and another on domestic violence. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, has served as chair and member of committees and councils of the International Association of Forensic Nurses, and locally is a member of the Curriculum and Instruction Committee, Admission Committee, and Nurse Educator Conference Committee at Del Tech.

Ms. Fernandes is enrolled in the PhD in Nursing Science Program at the University of Delaware. Her areas of research interest are elder abuse and elder neglect as they relate to domestic violence grown old, caregiver role strain, and education of first responders and frontline healthcare providers in the recognition and identification of elder mistreatment.
