Laura Boehm, BSN, MS

Laura BoehmMs. Boehm earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Marquette University and a Master of Science in nursing leadership and management from Walden University. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau and also maintained certification in critical care nursing (CCRN) through the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. Currently Ms. Boehm is a PhD student at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and an instructor in the Associate Degree Nursing and Licensed Practical Nursing programs at Hawaii Community College in Hilo, Hawaii, an institution that facilitates access to higher education for Native Hawaiians.

Formerly she was Vice President for Patient Care and Chief Nurse Executive at North Hawaii Community Hospital in Kamuela, Hawaii. There she promoted a holistic care model and instituted training programs for new graduates and for critical care nursing. Her areas of interest include critical care, nursing workforce development especially new graduate transition and rural nursing, as well as use of holistic care modalities. Ms. Boehm’s proposed area of research focuses on the introduction of guided imagery to new graduates for transition stress management as part of their nurse residency program.
