Katherine HeinzeKatherine Heinze first became interested in nursing in high school when she became a junior volunteer on a pediatric floor at a community hospital in Colorado Springs. She was impressed by the nurses’ dedication to patient care and commitment to the nursing profession. Ms. Heinze graduated from the University of Colorado with a bachelor’s degree in nursing, and relocated to Baltimore, Maryland to work on the Pediatric Oncology floor at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Two years later, she accepted a position in the Pediatric Oncology Outpatient Clinic at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. She practiced in the outpatient clinic for five years, working alongside pediatric oncology patients and their families. Ms. Heinze completed the Business of Nursing Graduate Certificate at Johns Hopkins University, and through this experience became interested in scholarship and research. She began full time PhD studies at the Johns Hopkins University, and is excited to have the opportunity to impact the future generation of nurses through teaching and research.
