Katarina Felsted

Katarina Friberg Felsted is a full time faculty member of the Gerontology Interdisciplinary Program in the College of Nursing at the University of Utah. Katarina teaches four courses in the Gerontology Program: Health & Optimal Aging, Caregiving & Aging Families, Race, Ethnicity, and Aging, and International Dimensions of Lifelong Learning. Katarina has a strong commitment to excellence in teaching in higher education. She is earning her Higher Education Teaching Specialist designation for the UU Center on Teaching and Learning Excellence. She is also a member of the UU Academy of Health Sciences Educators. Katarina also enjoys serving on student supervisory committees and scholarly projects for the MS and DNP programs. In addition, Katarina serves nationally in the Gerontological Society of America_s (GSA) Ambassador program, the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education's (AGHE) Geriatric Education Committee, and locally on the Division of Aging and Adult Services' Senior Diversity Committee. In her Jonas Nurse Leader Scholar Program role, she will work with the Utah Action Coalition for Health/Health Insight, in Salt Lake City. Katarina is a first year PhD student in the College of Nursing, and her research area of focus is the potential influence of mindfulness-based stress reduction on urinary urge incontinence in older adult women, and the possible impact of resilience as a mediator or moderator.
