Helen Farrar Jonas Scholar III AlumniHelen Farrar entered into the nursing profession with an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Nursing at Rogers State University. She went on to complete both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree in Nursing at the University of Oklahoma. She has since completed a post-master’s certificate in Nursing Education as well as achieved board certification in gerontological and psychiatric mental health nursing. She was a D.W. Reynolds predoctoral scholar at the D.W. Reynolds Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence at the University of Oklahoma College of Nursing, where she completed her PhD in Nursing. Her doctoral program of research focused on older adult caregiving within vulnerable populations to increase scientific knowledge to inform culturally sensitive nursing interventions. This program of research was enhanced by direct mentorship from exemplars in the fields of Community Based Participatory Research and Translational Science at the University Of Oklahoma College Of Nursing. As an academic nurse educator, Dr. Farrar provided both classroom and clinical leadership at all levels of an associate degree nursing curriculum in addition to serving as a the school representative for the National League of Nursing (NLN) and Institute for Oklahoma Nursing Education (IONE). She is currently at Assistant Professor at the University of Oklahoma.
