Jonas IV Nurse Leader Scholar Alumni

Elizabeth Coll, ACNP

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey

I am a full-time PhD student at Rutgers University and I am nearly finished my DNP degree, as well. I am an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner specializing in the treatment of acute and chronic vein disease for the last 10 years. I decided to pursue both my DNP and my PhD because I am a clinician who wants to teach and research and contribute to the science of my field while providing evidence-based care. I am the primary provider of services in an outpatient vein treatment center which treats primarily Medicaid and underserved patients with acute and chronic DVT, phlebitis, post-thrombotic syndrome, varicose veins, venous stasis ulcers and lymphemeda. I am passionate about my work and my patients. I am also a registered vascular technologist, performing all of my own diagnostic venous ultrasounds and ultrasound guided procedures. My research area of interest is in chronic venous hypertension and venous stasis ulcers. My expertise as a clinician and ultrasonographer gives me a unique perspective. I am an active member of the American College of Phlebology and I started an APN section within the college several years ago. I am also an active member of the American Venous Forum. I was the first non-physician provider to participate in the forum's patient database.
