Donna HamillDonna Hamill received her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, where, in addition to being a Jonas Scholar, she was awarded the Simonie Scholarship, the Murray Scholarship and the Dean’s Honor Scholarship for academic achievement and leadership. Dr. Hamill completed her BSN in Wayne State’s Second Degree nursing program graduating magna cum laude. She previously attended Illinois State University earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and minor in Economics. In the DNP program, Dr. Hamill focused on Adult Primary Care with a special interest in Diabetes education and care coordination.

Dr. Hamill feels strongly that the men and women who serve our country deserve the best healthcare in return for their generosity. Through her specialized studies at Wayne State University and observational studies at Diabetes Centers for Excellence across the United States, she hopes to learn the best evidence-based techniques to improve care for the disproportionate number of veterans with diabetes. With her communications background and an interdisciplinary approach, Dr. Hamill hopes to develop clinical interventions that make positive strides in reducing the negative effects of this disease.
