Courtney Caiola - Jonas Scholar III AlumniCourtney Caiola received her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Anthropology and Biology, Master of Public Health degree from Tulane University and Master of Nursing degree from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Her nursing practice has focused on the care of women and children in a variety of clinical settings. She has served as a Clinical Nurse Education Specialist in the in-patient setting and is currently working as an Obstetric Clinical Instructor for undergraduate nursing students. Ms. Caiola also spent three years with her family in rural southwestern Uganda as a medical missionary where she served as a Clinical Instructor at the Karoli Lwanga School of Nursing and Midwifery. Her combined obstetric nursing experience, international nursing practice and nursing education background have inspired her current research interests in HIV/AIDs and maternal/child health. Ms. Caiola is interested in describing the intersection of the social determinants of health for HIV-infected mothers living in poverty and identifying individual and community strengths to respond to their described vulnerability.
