University of Missouri-Kansas City

I am currently enrolled as a Doctorate of Philosophy student at the University of Missouri Kansas City. I received a Master of Science in Nursing degree and certification as a women's health care nurse practitioner from the University of Cincinnati. I completed my Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and Associate Degree in Nursing from Miami University. I hold a full-time position as an Associate Professor at Good Samaritan College of Nursing and Health Science in Cincinnati, Ohio. During my eleven years serving in this role, I have been committed to improving student learning outcomes through the use of varied teaching-learning strategies. I have presented at regional and national nursing education conferences, sharing my knowledge regarding the utilization of creative and innovative teaching methods. In 2010, I was recognized for my dedication to educating and preparing future nurses when I received the DAISY Faculty Award. I facilitate a multi-cultural student nurse support group and serve as a mentor for minority nursing graduates as they transition to the role of the professional nurse. The majority of my nursing career has been focused on caring for and improving the lives of women. I maintain a part-time position as a women's health care nurse practitioner, providing examinations and education to under-served women in the community. I volunteer and am actively involved with several community organizations. My area of research involves factors which influence the critical thinking development of undergraduate nursing students.
