Jonas Scholar Alumni Dowling-CastronovoAnnemarie Dowling-Castronovo received her undergraduate nursing education at the College of Staten Island, City University of New York, her master’s degree from New York University and her PhD from the College of Nursing, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. A nurse since 1989, she has practiced as a staff nurse and a gerontologic nurse practitioner in settings such as cardiothoracic acute care, long-term care, ambulatory care, home care, and a continence program. Dr. Dowling-Castronovo had academic appointments at New York University and The College of Staten Island. Currently, she is an AssociateProfessor of Nursing at the Evelyn L. Spiro School of Nursing, Wagner College. She is responsible for three undergraduate nursing courses: health assessment, medical–surgical nursing, and community nursing; each of which she integrates best nursing practices for the care of older adults. Her doctoral dissertation focused on a naturalistic inquiry of new-onset urinary incontinence in the hospitalized older adult population.
