National Policy Forum on Nursing Announced
The Jonas Center for Nursing Excellence announces plans to host a National Policy Forum on Nursing, Capitol Hill, May 9, 2008The National Policy Forum on Nursing aims to bring together leaders from public and private sectors to convene and build a responsive blueprint for policy and action that addresses the current issues challenging the nursing profession. Elected officials, nursing leaders, and philanthropists will have an opportunity to share with one another the policy issues germane to nursing and the varied ways the sectors can work together to achieve sustainable solutions.

Location: Dirksen Senate Building, Rm. SD-562
The agenda will consist of two moderated panels, each including a policymaker, nurse leader, policy analyst, and philanthropic leader. The first panel will address Nursing Education, topics include recruitment of qualified students, developing faculty, tuition support, and graduate nurse education funding. The second panel will focus on Nursing Practice, addressing such issues as transition to practice, nurse residencies, delivery models, and insurer payment for services.

The panels are in formation and will include leaders from academe, practice, and policy.
The forum is invite only.
